The Diploma in Theology program is designed to meet the needs of those intending to enter the full-time ministry as pastor and church workers. This program provides the tools and skills needed to study both the Old and New Testaments. Students will be able to interpret and communicate from the Scriptures. It is especially designed as the basic training and equipping of Christians for vocational as well as ministry in the local church.
The objective of the Diploma of Theology program is that student will:
Cognitive:
- Gain a basic understanding of Bible and Theology
- Develop a firm basis for the critical use of study aids and tools
- Know the fundamental aspects of communicating biblical truth
Affective:
- Develop a deepening conviction to the teaching of God's Word and the leading of the Holy Spirit
- Sustain convictions of the relevance of Scripture
- Reinforce motivation to accomplish the will of God through gifts and calling
- Commit to furthering spiritual maturity in themselves and others for the growth and development of the church
- Develop love and compassion for others and the ability to express them through effective service
- Grow in their passion of sharing the good news with others.
Life and Ministry Skills:
- Develop a servant-leadership approach to ministry
- Strengthen communication skills
- Develop spiritual disciplines in themselves and others
- Enhance counselling skills
- Develop their ability to clearly state and explain their Christian beliefs and doctrines
- Grow in confidence to communicate biblical truth to a contemporary audience through preaching and teaching
