Incepted in 1998, Alpha Omega International College is a vital platform for those called to marketplace, workplace, and non-vocational church ministry. Where our founders were intent on carving out a legacy that would last, the 27-year heritage that adorns the pages of our history is the realisation of this vision. Aspiring to live within the virtues of a gentle nursing mother, our theological foundation for being is the priesthood of all believers, since God has called each of us uniquely, clergy and non-clergy alike, to arise.
Evolution into empowerment
Originally set up as Theological Center for Asia (Malaysia), not just our name is reflective of the evolution this organisation has braved. A catalyst for Christ’s ministry in the church and to the world, 2024 marked a momentous season for the school when our academic accreditation status was successfully renewed for the fourth consecutive time since inception. As we now embrace the fundamental shift toward a technology-driven environment, our transition into an online bible institution is meant to welcome a mutual sharing of experiences and collaborative learning.
Revelation into reimagination
Since 2008, AOIC has been the transformative banner of renewal under which our stewards have served. Last year, we graduated 25 men and women in three languages via our locally-based programmes. Our Tamil programmes offered within an international context over the past two years invited the same for 73 more. Our conviction to shape a community of disciples able to engage in self-motivated online adult learning is why we draw enrichment by peers and a multicultural faculty from different church traditions.
Leaning into elevated learning
Today, beyond just the vocational realm, non-clergy members of the church have access to theological education, and the opportunity to discover the Bible for themselves and foray into faithful stewardship. The author and finisher of our faith, His spiritual gifts render us witnesses with the heart to communicate the Word, uplift His church, and bring revival to the community. The passion to fulfil this mission humbly yet confidently is why His own children are called to the marketplace, workplace and even further afield.
Coming into that Christ-likeness
Interestingly, more than 70% of our students have no intention to go into full-time vocational ministries. Our targeted seminars as well as academic and non-academic courses which include counselling options are designed to address the needs, challenges, and health of believers, local churches, and communities. One of the most eye-opening moments of our 2024 have involved God sustaining our ministry through financial provisions during some of our critical junctures over the course of the year, reinforcing His endless grace.
Great Commission of Matthew 28
Five years into our totally virtual transition, our prayer is that the online space will be hospitable for the cultivation of strong learning communities. As we move into a new season of sowing, our desire remains the Great Commission of Matthew 28. Through Alpha Omega International College, we hope for growing disciplines who astutely understand and live out biblical teaching to emerge. As a nurturing launch pad, our yearning is for faithful Christ-centred servants who lend their hands to planting seeds of the harvest.
